Keen runner and previous Race Director of the Ipswich Ekiden, Ryan's MD Robin Belsom is using his spare time during lockdown, to help stage a virtual version of the race following the cancellation of this years event.
The free community event which will take place over the weekend of the 10th - 12th July is open to everyone with the sole purpose to encourage people to take part in a fun event, get some exercise and fire up their competitive spirit.
Robin is asking anyone taking part in the event to help raise vital funds for Ryan's chosen charity East Anglian Air Ambulance and has set up a justgiving page for donations. Or they can support the charity of their choice.
Ipswich JAFFA have been staging the only Ekiden held in the UK for over 20 years, and it is now a well established fixture in the local racing calendar. It attracts runners from all over East Anglia, with the 2017 event having a record entry of 200 teams. There is a junior Ekiden for those aged under 16.
